The combination of the DJ and jazz musician is refined in what is at once an engaging, sophisticated and extremely pleasant to listen to. Through a combination of effects, samplers, CDJ’s, laptop computers, keyboards and trumpet the trio have refined the art of blending live, improvised jazz with modern electronic music. The trio have performed shows in every imaginable circumstance and have experienced a recurrently warm and receptive response to their shows, from arena sized stages to the most intimate of settings. Cape Town and South Africa have been tours extensively, as well as Ibiza, Europe and the US.

Richard Marshall

A fixture on the Cape Town and South African circuit since the turn of the century, and one of South Africa’s hardest working DJs, it’s at clubs and festival across the country where Richard can be found playing his signature sound of melodious, left-of-centre house and techno music, with a fair margin for mash-ups on the side. Not to mention slotting in with some of SA’s finest jazz musicians and collaborators.

Lee Thomson

Lee Thomson is one of Cape Towns most in demand musicians and has been associated with many of South Africa’s top acts. He is one half of the legendary horn section in SA’s longest standing punk rock band Hog Hoggidy Hog, and outside of Valve State enjoys countrywide notoriety for his four-piece The Lee Thomson Quartet.

Jason Reolon

Jason Reolon is a celebrated and award winning jazz pianist/keyboardist. In his accomplished career he has formed and been part of numerous notable groups and collaborated, recorded and performed with a long list of reputable artists across the genre spectrum. He’s toured all over the world, having performed on prestigious stages and festivals across 5 continents, and also recorded and produced a string of 8 internationally acclaimed albums.
